Compatibility
Which plotters work with PPF/Tint Studio?
PPF/Tint Studio is compatible with most plotters and vinyl cutters. Any cutter that connects to a Windows PC by USB and accepts HP-GL, DMPL (Mode 1) or CAMM-GL (Mode 1) cutting commands will work. That includes USCutter, SAGA and Vevor models, with no extra drivers to install. The exception is a cutter that only accepts Graphtec's GP-GL commands, which is not supported yet.

What your plotter needs
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Connection | USB cable to the computer running PPF/Tint Studio. |
| Computer | A Windows PC. The app is a Windows desktop application. |
| Command language | HP-GL, DMPL Mode 1, or CAMM-GL Mode 1. |
| Drivers | No extra drivers to install. The app finds a connected cutter itself. |
| Not supported yet | GP-GL, DMPL Modes 2, 3, 4 and 6, and CAMM-GL Mode 2. |
How to tell which language your cutter uses
A cutter's command language is listed in its manual, and often in its control panel menu. As a general guide:
- HP-GL is the most common language on budget vinyl cutters, and is the default in PPF/Tint Studio.
- CAMM-GL is Roland's language.
- GP-GL is Graphtec's own language. Many Graphtec cutters can be switched to an HP-GL mode in their menu. We haven't verified that setup, so test it during a trial before you rely on it.

How to connect a plotter
- Plug the cutter into the computer by USB and switch it on.
- In the app, open Settings → Cut Devices and add a device. The app scans for a connected cutter.
- If more than one USB device shows up, use Help Me Identify It: unplug the cutter and plug it back in when asked, and the app works out which one it is.
- Choose the cutter's command language. HP-GL is selected by default.
- Run the calibration wizard once so the cutter cuts true to size.
Choosing a plotter
If you haven't bought a cutter yet, width and tracking matter more than brand. Our guide covers what to look for: what plotter do you need to cut window tint and PPF?
Common questions
Does PPF/Tint Studio work on a Mac?
No. It currently ships as a Windows desktop application.
Can I connect my plotter over Wi-Fi or a network cable?
No. Plotters connect by USB.
Can I use two plotters?
Yes. You can save more than one cut device, each with its own command language and its own calibration.
Do I need a special plotter for PPF?
PPF is thicker than window tint and the pieces are larger, so it asks more of a cutter: more width, more cutting force and straighter tracking. See what plotter you need for tint and PPF.
